Happy birthday Matthew

Dear Matthew James,

I remember the day you were born. I knew you were going to be my ham! You came into this world peeing on the doctor! I remember looking at you for the first time thinking “You are the tiniest thing I have ever seen!” You were so tiny that your entire body fit in the palm of my hand! And that bum of yours…..it was the smallest thing ever! I remember being scared, too. You were filled with wires and all kinds of things but the nurses assured me that you were ok, just small.

When we brought you and your brother home I thought that you were just so perfect. You had this way about you that you almost knew the instant that we put you near Jon that he was there and you’d schooch yourself right over to where he was laying and cuddle. Your clothes that we had gotten you were so big that we used to say that you were swimming in them. But when you started to eat I knew you’d gain the weight quickly and become a chunker J You quickly went from pip-squeek to linebacker material.

Right now your favorite toys are books and your Ben 10 Alien toys. You love to color and make pictures and tell jokes. I have to laugh at your jokes because you are trying so hard to be funny and make up your own! You love your stuffed animals and pretend that they are babies and take care of them. You are such a funny boy and so sensitive. I am hoping that you stay that way; when you grow up and turn….I don’t know….50 or so and start dating…..your future girlfriends will tell me that I raised a good man!

You can be such a troublemaker but you are sneaky about it. You got that from your daddy. He won’t admit it but he was sneaky when he was a boy, too! You love to sneak an extra cookie or two….DOZEN! You love sneaking into my bed at night and cuddeling up to me. And, I love having you right next to me. Who can resist those brown eyes?

I’m thankful to you for letting me be your mommy. I love you THIS MUCH (stretching my arms out) and TO THE MOON AND BACK!

Happy birthday Jonathan

Dear Jonathan,

I’ve enjoyed watching you grow from an itty-bit to the boy you are over these past 4 years. I remember the day you were born. I was so scared yet so excited to see the boys that were growing inside me for 7 months. I remember the first time I heard you cry; I was so overjoyed to hear your tiny squak! The first time I saw you I couldn’t get over how tiny you were; you were all of 4 pounds! I was afraid that you would break! You have grown so much over these years and I can’t wait to see how you grow.

When your daddy and I brought you home from the hospital I was so afraid that you would stop breathing that I don’t think I slept at all that first night. You and your brother had this way about you; we would put you in separate areas in your pack and play and somehow you would always fine your way to each other. You were best friends from the start! You were so tiny when we brought you home that even your premiee clothes were too big. You swam in them!

I love watching you play your action figures and listening to you have conversations with them. I love you playing with your X-men and Spiderman toys and the way you have to sleep with every single one AND your Big Doggie AND Baby Doggie. You pack so much into your bed there is hardly room for you! And, ya know that I do enjoy your cuddle session every morning. You love to walk into my room and say “It’s a sunny day!” Then hop into bed and wrap your little legs and arms around me and snooze for a bit longer.

You make me smile every time you shine your dimply smile my way. I have to laugh at you every time I tell you that I love you “This much” as I stretch my arms out and try to give you a big hug and you always come back with “This tiny!” as your fingers close closer together.

I love you “THIS MUCH” and “To the moon and back!”

Happy birthday Christopher

Dear Christopher,

You came into this world two years ago not ready to enter it yet and I am sorry for that. I feel like somehow I let you down; I couldn’t nourish you or keep you safe inside me. What I wouldn’t give to have felt you kick or hiccup for 5 more weeks!
We’ve been through a hell of a 2 years, huh? You’ve worked hard this past year getting to where you are now. You started not knowing how to do much and now you are a walking, talking not much talking, trouble maker! I love to see what you are going to do next! I love watching you grow and the daily changed you make.
I love when you crawl up on my lap and rest your head on my shoulder. You put your little chin under mine and snuggle. But, one thing honey. Can you not do it all day? Mama needs some time without you on top of her! I do love it and enjoy the snuggle time, though. It makes up for the almost 2 years worth of no sleep and you saying everyone else’s name but mine!
I love you to the moon and back!
